The Adelaide Plains Food Region boasts a vibrant horticulture industry enriched by a high level of ethnic and cultural diversity, a notable strength in one of Australia's most socially challenged areas.
COLLABORATIVE PLAN - 2018
In the beginning back in 2018, local industry came together to identify the priorities and actions that it wanted the Cluster to focus on in its first few years – these are the challenges and opportunities that the industry believes cross over all businesses in the region, regardless of size, activities or background.
Industry has recognised several other collaborative opportunities that the Cluster can work on in the future but wants these to wait until the Cluster has proven the worth of the collaborative model by making in-roads on tackling the current priorities for the region.
The Members Council was established taking on the responsibility for progressing the priorities and actions set out the Collaborative Plan. A ‘Lead’ for each priority action area has been appointed - the Action Lead will be responsible for progressing the actions and strategies set out in the Collaborative Plan with support and coordination from a Cluster Manager and the assistance of a working group as required. The Action Lead will report on progress, including achievements and any issues, at each Members’ Council meeting.
As the Cluster matured and the Collaborative Plan served its purpose in those first few years, we understood that needs of Industry would changes, hence creating our new vision, under the Strategic Plan 24-25.

A ‘snapshot’ of the Northern Adelaide Plains Horticulture Industry: Key issues and potential for collaboration
This project examined the merits of establishing a horticulture-based industry cluster in the Adelaide Plains Food Region. An initial stakeholder meeting identified the need to more closely understand current industry issues and to ascertain the opportunities and primary producer’s willingness to collaborate. A range of growers and producers were interviewed about opportunities and needs within the region that collaboration and/or clustering would support.
